Your cover never leaves your browser. We draw the mockup on your device and don't upload anything.

How it works

  1. Step 1: Upload your cover

Drop in the front cover as a JPG, PNG or WebP. The flat ebook cover works best.

  2. Step 2: Pick a style and angle

Choose paperback, hardcover or eReader, then turn it to show the spine or the page edges.

  3. Step 3: Download the PNG

Get a 2400 px wide image, on a color or a transparent background, ready for Instagram, ads or your book page.

How to make a 3D book mockup for free

Upload your front cover and the tool builds a 3D book around it. It reads the left edge of your cover to pick a spine color, sets the thickness from your page count, and adds a soft shadow. Change anything you like and the preview updates as you go. When it looks right, download the PNG.

The book is drawn with real perspective, not a flat skew. The near edge is taller than the far edge, the spine catches the light, and the page edges show fine lines like a real book. That's what makes a mockup look like a photo instead of a sticker.

Which cover file to upload

Use your front cover only, not the full paperback wrap. Your ebook cover is perfect, because it's already the front at the right shape. For a sharp result, upload at least 1600 px tall. KDP recommends 2560 px tall for ebook covers, which is plenty.

  • JPG, PNG or WebP all work. Keep it under 25 MB.
  • Crop off any bleed if you're using a print file, or the edges will look thick.
  • Dark covers look best on a light background, and light covers on Ink or Sage.

Paperback, hardcover or eReader mockup?

Pick the format you're selling. A paperback mockup shows a flush spine and page edges. A hardcover shows boards that stand a little proud of the pages, with a hinge groove near the spine. The eReader view puts your cover on a screen, which is good for ebook-only launches and Kindle Unlimited posts.

"Show the spine" is the classic look for a book page or a launch post. "Show the pages" makes a thick book look substantial, which suits fantasy and big series boxed sets.

Best image size for Instagram, Facebook and your website

  • Portrait (2400 × 3000 px) fills the Instagram feed at 4:5.
  • Square (2400 × 2400 px) works everywhere, from Facebook to your newsletter.
  • Wide (2400 × 1350 px) fits blog headers, YouTube thumbnails and website banners.

Choose Transparent to drop the book onto your own photo in Canva or Photoshop. Need a print cover too? Our KDP cover size calculator gives you the full wrap size and a template.

Where to use your book mockup

Use it in ads, launch posts, your email signature and your newsletter header. The best place is your own book page, next to the blurb and your buy links. Readers who land there from a post see the same book they just scrolled past, so they know they're in the right place.
