How it works
Step 1: Paste your book's link
Copy it from your browser, the Amazon app or a search result. An ASIN or ISBN works too.
Step 2: Get your clean link
We pull out the ASIN and drop the tracking junk, so you get amazon.com/dp/ and ten characters.
Step 3: Copy links for every store
Copy one link, or copy all 16 as plain text, Markdown or HTML for your website and newsletter.
Why Amazon book links get so long
Copy a link from Amazon and you rarely get just the book. You get the search you typed, the position of the result, a session code and a string of letters that tracks where you clicked. A typical link runs to 200 or 300 characters. It looks messy in an email, breaks across lines in a newsletter and gives readers no clue where it goes. Some of those extras also tie the link to your own browsing session.
Only one part matters: the ASIN, Amazon's 10-character product code. Every book page lives at amazon.com/dp/ followed by that code. Everything else can go. So a clean Amazon book link looks like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EMXBDMA, and it works for every reader who clicks it.
How to find your book's ASIN
Your Kindle eBook gets an ASIN that starts with B0. Your paperback and hardcover use their ISBN-10 as the ASIN, so those are all digits (sometimes ending in X). You can find both in three places:
- Your KDP Bookshelf, under each format of the book.
- The book's Amazon page, in the product details list.
- The address bar on the book's page, right after /dp/.
This tool reads it from any of the usual link shapes: desktop and mobile pages, old /gp/product/ and /exec/obidos/ links, review pages and links copied out of search results. If you paste an ISBN-13 that starts with 978, we turn it into the ISBN-10 for you.
One Amazon book link for all countries
KDP sells your book in 16 Amazon stores, from the US and UK to Japan, India and Brazil. A reader in Germany who clicks an amazon.com link lands in the wrong store, with prices in dollars and slower shipping. Many give up there. Listing a link for each store fixes that. For KDP books the ASIN is the same in every store, so the links above are all you need.
Traditionally published books are different. A publisher can put out a separate edition in each country, each with its own ASIN. If one of your links shows a missing page, search that store for the title and paste the link you find. Universal link services like Books2Read send each reader to their own store automatically, which is handy for ads. A plain list still wins on your own website, where readers like to pick.
Short links, a.co links and affiliate tags
The Amazon app shares a.co and amzn.to short links. They hide the real address, and a web page can't look inside them for you because browsers block that kind of request. Open the short link, let the book page load, then copy the full address from your browser and paste it here.
If you're an Amazon Associate, you can add your tracking ID. Associates accounts work one store at a time, so your US tag earns nothing on Amazon.co.uk. We add the tag only to the store you pick and keep the rest clean. Check Amazon's rules on how to disclose affiliate links before you share them.
Where to use your clean links
Put them anywhere a reader might want to buy: the back matter of your other books, your newsletter, social posts, your email signature and your author website. On a website, a short โBuy on Amazonโ button with a country list under it reads better than a wall of URLs. Need a code for a bookmark or poster? Turn the link into one with our book QR code generator.
Questions authors ask
Keep only the ASIN. Every Amazon book page works at https://www.amazon.com/dp/ followed by the 10-character ASIN, so you can drop the title, the ref= part and everything after the question mark. Paste your link above and we do it for you.
