They Still Call Me Princess Cayce: through the smoke and into the fire (The Broken Throne Book 2)
Escaping from the dowager and traitor Barclay was supposed to be a breath of fresh air, perhaps an end to the game I might be trapped in. But instead of waking up to a save and exit screen, I woke to a desperate military packing up its camp. The enemy army was racing to catch us at the next chokepoint. And we had to beat them or be cut off from safety.Yet was it safety we were rushing to? Our only hope lay in reaching the last duchy of the kingdom. But everyone had been warning me of Duke Bechalle, the deranged tyrant, a dangerous man – and now in the hopes that our combined armies could defend the kingdom, people were telling me I should marry the guy!---Princess Cayce continues exploring this new world, its foods and customs, training in weapons and riding, while trying to avoid the limitations of being a cute girl princess. Meanwhile, her new mistress of the bedroom has other plans. Plans that include ballroom gowns, make-up and perfume, and setting Cayce up with the duke, a man whose best interests might be served better by Cayce’s funeral than her marriage.

Fun and original story.
I loved Cayce's character development. Very fun well thought out story arc. Very compelling, I had to read it all the way through to the end. My only very very minor complaint was that the main character kept thinking she was in a PC video game even though she had absolutely no indication that this is true. I also find it extremely unrealistic that a straight man in a good looking girl's body wouldn't A: explore herself, and B: take every opportunity to ogle naked women. Guys will be guys even under the most extreme circumstances. But those are only minor nitpicks. Excellent book.
4 Nearly Indistinguishable From Resting Kill Face Stars
They Still Call Me Princess Cayce: Through the smoke and into the fire is the second book in The Broken Throne series by p d ball. That ending was unbelievably unexpected.. Bechalle was very obviously deranged in some manner, the way his facial expressions seemed to shift so easily from rage to delight. It is wildly aggravating that there are so few truly decent people to be found in this new world. I'm probably just extremely annoyed that the old man trapped in this princess' body isn't better at reading peoples intentions. My curiosity, however, has grown with these new discoveries towards the magical system of this fantasy world. The implications of the myth that his delusions were born from. That leaves one to consider the Grand Magister and where his loyalties lie? He has never appeared to be a fan of the princess. I am at a loss to imagine what will become of their futures in this next installment. I find myself still reeling from what was recently revealed and still missing a considerable amount of the necessary information to have a clear idea. Also, I am really coming to enjoy Morry and Cayce's building relationship. Whether it is only ever platonic or not, their interactions add a sweetness to the tale.
Binge worthy !
Its 2:00 am just finished book 2 . Buying 3rd book, already stressing about the series being over soon. Didn't know this writer, cut following now.
Problem and trouble, and mystery
It been a long week, for the princess know as Cayce, he/she doesn't know what happens to him/her , she captures, escaped, not known of what's happening to the person known as Cayce, she a person not his/her world, nearly everything different, but there are similar to this world. The problems he/she has to learn quickly to survive and maybe bring new ideas to this society. To survive, who knows that he/she survive and create something new?
Still love this book series
Book 2 was as good as book 1. It was well written and has a strong story line. It keeps enough hidden that you want to keep turning the page. I enjoy the tension between the characters. I can’t wait for the next installment.
Good story
Good story. Interesting mysteries to explore, such as the question of whether the world is a game simulation, or an alternate reality where magic exists. I enjoy the man in the body of a young girl without the constant obsession with sex. This is not an X rated story about sexual exploration and gratification.
Awesome Read!
Amazing second book! The first was great, but I really enjoyed this one. The overall story arch was perfectly balanced, and I couldn't stop reading. A nice blend of adventure, interpersonal character-building, history, action, and more! It really starts to world-build and give really scale, history, depth, and flavor to everything. Some fun nerdy explanations of history, weaponry, physics, chemistry, etc. worked in here and there, too, so you get to learn some cool things while reading! As with the first book, great details and development, but still plenty of unknowns and mysteries to keep you wanting to know more. The writing style seems to have improved, too, and there's a nice flow to everything, making it a very pleasant and easy read. Overall, an awesome book. Highly recommend!
Exciting!
This book is a gem. The writing is clean, and the situation is, to my knowledge, unique in that it is a guy from a world like ours transported into the body of a princess from the middle-ages where magic is real. The author took a new twist and instead of the normal troupes' gender change books tend to have, the focus is on the situation, and how the hero/heroine overcomes every obstacle. This book is really well written, and I highly recommend it.
Looking forward to more!
Another enjoyable read with added complexity to further flesh out this new world. This was a fun continuation of the first book and I want more. Can't wait for the next one!
Looking forward to the next one!
